Don Martin Hoeff Huerta, the Klatovy Benefactor with Bad Reputation
Čornejová, Ivana
Free-lance soldier who gained fame in the battles of the Thirty–Year’s War, but also substantial possessions, which he could not use for long. He became holder of some estates in South Bohemia, but was not honoured by his vassalry, as the preserved tales show. He was also a generous benefactor of the Catholic Church. Was his legacy to the Church an expression of penitence and desire to undo his bad deeds?
